Where to shop for art supplies in Prague
Store | Location | |
---|---|---|
Výtvarné potřeby | Soukenická 14, Prague 1 | This has become a Prague Life Drawing favorite. You likely won't find everything you're looking for, but that's true with every art shop in Prague. The sales people are very helpful, though, and can often order whatever you need. |
Zlata Lod | Národní 37, Prague 1 | Long established and a favorite of many artists. It has a vast selection of paints and more Copic markers than you've ever dreamed of. A bit hidden down a long passage, but a very central, convenient location. |
Výtvarné Šárka Boháčová | Korunní 30, Prague 2 | We like it mostly for its vast selection of Canson paper. You can fulfil most of your basic needs here. But, like most art shops in Prague, you're not going to find many high-end brand items. |
Art Market u Bílé Paní | Václavská 12, Prague 2 | Don't be fooled by all the chintzy craft goods in the front. The real art supplies are on a separate floor. Good customer service. |
Papyrus Bohemia | Václavská 12, Prague 2 | Paper, paper, paper, paper, paper, paper and more paper. |
Altamira | Martinská 4, Prague 1 | The main Altamira shop in Old Town has long been a favorite of art students in Prague. The staff is very helpful, which is great, because you're going to need help. Much of there inventory is only accessible to the sales team. |
Davona | Jana Zajíce 22, Prague 7 | This is the "go to" shop if you're living north of the Vlatava in Letna. They also have a nice online presence if you prefer to shop from the comfort of your studio. |
Artikon | Náchodská 79, Prague 20 | That's right. Prague 20. It's not the most convenient location, but they do make deliveries. And if you have specific frame and canvas needs, there probably isn't a better shop in Prague. |
Knihkupectví Luxor | Václavská 12, Prague 2 | Yes, Luxor is actually a book store. But check out the basement of their Wenceslas Square location. They've dedicates more floorspace to art pens and other art supplies than just about any art store in Prague. And on the ground floor, you can find a large selection of Moleskins and Leuchtturm sketchbooks, and a variety of fountain pens. |
